How We

Work

Food Marketing Resources provides clients with strategic marketing direction, project management and execution, delivered on time and on budget. Susan Renke oversees all projects, in partnership with her clients. Susan is available to work solo for her clients on a consulting basis, or as workloads and priorities grow and change, she draws on the talents of other seasoned professionals and assembles customized teams to best meet her clients’ marketing goals.

These specialists might include creative directors, copywriters, photographers, food stylists, chefs, menu R&D specialists, recipe developers, and market researchers. All programs are personally managed and reviewed by Susan to ensure not only accuracy, but proper messaging, consistency, timeliness, and budget parameters. This business model provides efficient solutions by bringing additional resources on board only as needed, servicing clients in the most professional and cost-effective manner.

Career Highlights

Susan RenkeSusan is a foodservice industry marketing veteran who has built her career working with a variety of food and agriculture organizations, including commodity boards, branded companies, agencies, and trade associations. Susan’s specialty is foodservice business development and marketing programs aimed at increasing sales, visibility, and brand equity. She has strong relationships with distributors and foodservice operators plus an in-depth knowledge of distribution and purchasing systems, menu development, and culinary trends.

Susan has worked with organizations such as Driscoll’s, USA Pears, and Sunkist Growers, while running her foodservice consulting business, Food Marketing Resources. She has managed foodservice programs in positions with the Pacific Northwest Canned Pear Service, the California Strawberry Commission, Sun World International, the Produce Marketing Association, Ketchum Public Relations, and the Culinary Institute of America.

Susan has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications with a concentration in journalism from California State University, Chico. She has served as a board member for the International Foodservice Editorial Council, United Fresh Foodservice, and the American Commodities Distribution Association. She is currently a member of the Portland Chapter of Les Dames d’Escoffier International.

From her first job as the A&W Root Beer Bear and as a server at Denny’s, Susan has had deep roots in the foodservice and event world for many years. Her love of travel and exploring how culture and food intersect led her to create the tour company, Global Palate Adventures. A fifth generation Californian, Susan now makes her home in the Pacific Northwest.
